I like to use reclaimed materials, love nature and love art so painting this picture on slate was a natural combination. Trees have a way of bringing us back to our souls from our busy lives and I wanted to express this on the slate using this lovely and descriptive Welsh phrase.

Full description

This tree painting on 80-100 year old reclaimed Welsh slate roof tile says, 'Dwi wedi dod yn ol at fynghoed', meaning, 'I return to my trees'. It is a wonderful saying for those who want to remind themselves of nature's ability to balance the state of mind and restore the soul. The pretty scene is a hand-painted, signed original, painted in acrylic, the meaning of the Welsh words is painted on the back as a reminder, and the whole slate is sprayed with several layers of varnish to that it can be used indoors or outside. There is a hole drilled in the top so that the slate can be hung. The slate is approximately 31cm long by 8cm at its widest point.
