I am fascinated by delicate, fresh ferns and wanted to capture this in the process of lino printing. These beautiful plants grow in shadier parts of gardens whilst radiating light in their leaves. Ferns first appeared in fossil records from about 360 million years ago.
Making watercolour paintings is often my starting point for prints and after choosing my composition and colour I then proceeded to the next stage in making my linocut.
The chartreuse green ink colour is perfect for the foliage in this print and compliments the oatmeal colour of the recycled card it is printed onto.
