A wartime reminiscence sparked the idea for this vintage inspired brooch.

Full description

This is a variation on the traditional Dorset cross wheel button that I usually make. The design was strongly influenced by a war time memory of my mother who said that they used to make something similar to brighten an outfit in austere times.

This brooch is quite chunky but not too heavy to put on a collar or cardigan.

It is worked on a wooden ring and measures 5.5 cm across. The ring is covered in an ivory coloured cotton thread and the posy blossoms are worked in French knots in shades of pink.

The brooch fastens with a simple brooch pin that has been securely attached to the reverse.
