This piece was inspired by the abundance of bluebells in the beautiful Welsh countryside, the welcome arrival of Spring, and the rustic, characterful, and uniqueness of each piece of slate, as well as a love for using reclaimed materials.

Full description

An original painting of the beauty of bluebells on characterful, 80-100 year old Welsh roof slate. 'Cymru' which means 'Wales' which is where we live.

I take commissions and can do this with your own text or with no text. This particular piece is in a shop in Wales, but I can make similar designs incorporating forget-me-nots, bluebells, daffodils, daisies or other pictures (see my shop). Each piece of slate is unique and will be a bit different, but all with the same attention to detail. Each piece, unless you request that you don't want it, will have a small hole drilled into the top to allow it to be hung. It is sprayed with a clear varnish to provide outdoor protection too.

After seeing this piece, a lady commisioned forget-me-nots on slate with the word 'Dad' as a special memory to her father who died when she was only small. It will be placed in a part of the garden specially made for him. Others buy my slates as house and welcome signs, anniversary gifts, and house-warming gifts. I can paint animals, flowers, wildlife, and aspects of nature on slate in a way that keeps the natural, unique shape and character of the slate.

Most of my slates come from a traditional Welsh cottage in a small village in Pembrokeshire. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes to meet your needs. This slate celebrates the abundance of beautiful wild flowers that grow in the woodlands of rural Wales.

Commissions usually take a few weeks which will be discussed privately.
