As you can tell from my shop name, I have a liking for chickens and they often feature in my drawings and have included a picture of the inspiration. This is not included with the coasters. I have made cushions using this method so decided to make coasters as well. With my husband's upholstery business we work to use up all odd shaped off cuts as part of reducing our impact on the environment and the lining for the coasters is felted wool which he uses in traditional upholstery.

Full description
This pair of coasters is made using free motion machine applique based on my own ink drawing of a rooster and a hen. I call it drawing with my sewing machine.
The edges of the applique fabric are raw so can fray over time, adding to their rustic charm.
The top is Essex linen and is backed with quilting cotton. They have a felted wool inner which gives good protection to surfaces, but due to the mix of fibres and the surface decoration I would recommend only spot cleaning.
