A very eye-catching kumihimo necklace braided on a plum-coloured satin cord, with tulip petal beads in an etched, slightly iridescent, purple and gold - they have a very glamorous feel and look to them, and catch the light beautifully! Everything is complemented with champagne gold Miyuki seed beads, coordinating purple beading cord and finished off with an easy-to- fasten gold-tone "hook & eye" clasp.
These beads have a slight "lip" to them, so the necklace can be worn with beads fanning slightly outwards, or curving inwards - hopefully, my photos show the two different looks from which to choose.
Length from clasp to clasp approx: 19.75" / 50 cm
Size of tulip petal beads approx: 6 x 8 mm
I've made lots of kumihimo bracelets over the years, mostly beaded, so was excited to learn that a new-style disc (the little foam board upon which the braid is made) had been developed by UK "kumihimo queen", Pru McRae of Prumihimo. To go with this new disc, Pru had designed lots of new patterns, including this design which is a variation of her "Pipalicious" necklace. This style of necklace has turned out to be a best seller for me - they are very wearable and I think that's why they are so popular.
