These are my own design, hand-drawn and coloured on recycled card with wool ties. All materials are 100% natural, bio-degradable, with no plastic, acrylic or other nasties. They will be sent NOT wrapped in plastic or cellophane. Each tag is 4" x 2", plenty of room to write your own message on the back.
I saw an advert this year to encourage people to use brown paper to wrap Christmas presents. This is because it is a nightmare for paper mills at this time of year who are presented with mounds of wrapping paper, an awful lot of which cannot be recycled as it is not simply paper, a lot of it is laminated, dyed and/or with additives such as glitter and plastic - pure paper is the key and if it has already been recycled it can be recycled again.
I will certainly be doing this myself this year and so I began looking at ways of brightening up a brown paper parcel. I actually love the simplicity of the wrapping and the olde worlde look it brings and wanted to replicate this with some simple tags which would also be recyclable. (need to work on the ribbon!!).

In my attempts to help save the world I am trying my hardest to use only bio-degradable, eco-friendly materials to create affordable, pretty objects. It is harder than you think. I have looked at other beautiful hand-made gift tags available, but they have plastic buttons, or plastic beads, or glitter etc, etc. They are wrapped in cellophane or plastic bags so that they are presented to the buyer in a neat pretty arrangement.
When I saw the ad this year to encourage people to wrap presents in brown paper, apart from the obvious benefits to the planet, I actually loved the idea - you can draw/paint/colour on the brown paper and/or hopefully add other natural adornments to brighten it up. All-in-all I think it takes Christmas back to the olden days when times were simpler and more economical. It may seem like an unimportant, small matter that might not make that much difference, but every little thing helps. So whether you buy my tags or not, why don't you give this a go.
