Hi, I'm Bekki. Welcome to my shop
My Wildflower textile art purse was nominated for the National Needlecraft Award 2019 for 'best use of embroidery in fashion and accessories'. Check out my new textile art purse collection
I wanted to create a piece of art that was both beautiful and practical. A piece of art you can carry with you.
I love wildflowers and often photograph and paint them when I can. This is an embroidered interpretation of the paintings in my sketchbook.

Full description
This purse was nominated for the National Needlecraft Award 2019 in Best use of embroidery in fashion and accessories.
This textile art piece is an alternative to hoop embroidery art. I love embroidery but there's only so much space on a wall to hang it. So I decided a purse that can be carried anywhere you go would be the perfect place for a piece of embroidered art that has a practical use too. This piece is a wildflower meadow with five different species of wildflower that you find while out in the countryside. Each plant has been embroidered using a different stitch technique to mirror the variety in nature and to add lots of texture to the piece. I've added a piece of lace to the base fabric to be embroidered over. This was to add depth and texture that hopefully gives the impression of the wildflowers sitting in a meadow rather than by themselves.
The mini clutch purse has been made in linen that has been up-cycled from a pair of trousers so is eco-friendly too. Green cotton has been sewn to the bottom front panel under the embroidery work. The back is linen with a small flower embroidered at the top corner and my label sewn to the bottom. It has been lined in red printed cotton. All of this has been securely glued into a shiny silver coloured metal kisslock frame.
Don't hang art on the wall, take it with you.
Measurements approx.
9.5cm tall to the top of the frame not including the kisslock
15cm at the widest point
5.5cm deep
