I like to sit and watch the bees in my mum's garden. Different bees are attracted to different flowers so my mum gets lots. When they stay still long enough I photograph them and from those photos I like to paint and sometimes embroider them

Full description
This brooch has been hand embroidered with a wildflower called the Lax-Flowered Orchid and an over-sized bee who is busy looking for nectar. I wanted to draw attention to the bee so I made him the largest part of the embroidered scene. I embroidered him from a photograph I took of a bee in my mum's garden who stopped to pose for me. The orchid wildflower has a long green stem and pinky purple flowers growing out from the stem.
The embroidered piece has been backed onto a thick piece of wool felt to make it nice and sturdy. All of the felt is 100% wool. A silver coloured brooch back has been securely attached to finish.
All of my brooches come attached to a decorative card as you can see in the last photo.
