Full description

After building up a base of several layers of clear enamel on the copper dish I have added a coat of red enamel. After firing that coat I scattered white enamel powder around the centre and added amethyst enamel to it. The amethyst is transparent and needs to be fired over white to be seen. When the dish was at red hot in the kiln I disturbed the surface of the enamel with a steel point to make the unique patterning that you see. The dish is counter-enamelled; a coat of enamel on the reverse, the second coat I apply when building up the layers, balances the tensions of expansion and contraction as the dish is developed. This coat will show marks of the stilt or trivet used to hold the piece at a minimum number of points while it is fired.

The dish measures 85mm in diameter and is about 20mm deep. It would be suitable for a dressing table tray or to set off a flower display or table centrepiece.

Your dish will be sent by Royal Mail, tracked at no added cost
