Size approx. 187mm x 132mm (a bit over 7" x 5").

These landscape format cards are hinged at the top and sent in a cardboard wrapper, without cellophane.

Each card has a small copy of the image and descriptive text on the back.

These cards feature a painting of a young red deer stag and a tiny shrew, in a genuine Scottish Highland landscape, adapted from an illustration for my children's book "The Magical Midwinter Star" in the Adventures of Algy series.

This young red deer stag lived close to the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, and could often be seen on the rocky hillside there. He was the inspiration for a minor character in my children's book "The Magical Midwinter Star", and I used photographs I had taken of him by the lighthouse as reference. If you look closely you will also see a tiny shrew on the ground beneath the stag - he is another character in the same story.

The main hill in the background is Beinn an Lethaid, Ardnamurchan, and the snowy landscape was painted from a series of photographs of this scene in mid winter.

The original paintings from which this card is reproduced were created with Winsor and Newton professional watercolour paints and watercolour sticks, and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils on Fabriano Artistico HP watercolour paper.
