Full description
This tiny sculptural pendant is an exploration of form and texture in silver. Partially cast in recycled fine silver clay in a mould made using a glass marble, it forms a rough pitted circular mound bounded by a downwards pointing crescent with a dished hollow circle to connect it to the linear bail. In my mind's eye this resembles a lunar eclipse, where the earth passes between the sun and the moon. I particularly enjoyed creating the contrasting shapes, such as the dished hollow circle and the textured moon shape. I have lightly oxidized the piece using liver of sulphur in order to bring out all of the details. For a small pendant this piece really does stand out and demands attention. It measures 15 mm or 3/4" in length exluding the bail and is mounted on a 450 mm sterling silver trace chain fastened with a bolt ring clasp. The final photograph shows the pendant next to a vintage lipstick case measuring 80 mm or 3" to give a sense of scale. It has been give full UK hallmarks by the London Assay Office, including the date letter and my maker's mark.
This pendant is beautifully presented in a small gift box fastened with a bow, ready for you to receive or give as a gift.
