A lino print of the extravagant Larry Blackmon, drummer and singer from Cameo. The image itself is 15cm x 10cm ( the overall print is 25cm x 18cm), and is in an edition of eight, each being slightly different due to the handmade process.
It is on heavy Fabriano paper and uses non-toxic Caligo printing ink so it's nice and environmentally friendly.
It comes in a board-backed envelope wrapped in protective tissue paper.
Each print is signed and numbered.
Of all the funk bands that made it big, Cameo have to be the weirdest. Like many big funk bands, they bubbled underground for years throughout the Seventies, popular on the black music scene in America but never quite breaking through, until becoming massive in the Eighties.
Kool and the Gang did it, Earth Wind & Fire did it, and Cameo did it with their huge hit, Word Up, followed by the equally brilliant Candy and Single Life. And of course, that codpiece...
