Full description
This delicate, ethically made, pendant has been cast from a real cockleshell from a beach at Moonfleet in Dorset. Instead of casting the top of one of the shells, I moulded them side on creating a natural heart shape to symobolize love and sticking together, as two halves of the shells create a perfect whole. I used recycled fine silver clay to create the cast, preserving the fine details, including growth lines, from the natural shells, and then backed it with strong, highly polished sterling silver. I forged a bail for the pendant from sterling silver wire and suspending it from a 450 mm sterling silver trace chain. It is available in two sizes, large and small, each cast from a different pair of shells as shown. The large pendant measures 26 mm long including the bail and the small measures 23 mm. The first five photographs show the large size and the second five, the small size. As they are cast from different shells, the two sizes are slightly different in their details and are not a facsimile of each other.
The heart cockle pendant is beautifully presented in its own gift box, fastened with a bow.
