Sea Spray combined with Snowflakes!
If you read the inspiration for my mistletoe card you'll get an insight into my fascination with cosmological geometry & snowflakes. This is the next in that series...
This card references a long recurring theme in my works. In the early 1990s I became absorbed with glass as a material & kiln-fired it for a few years. The majority of that work was about Sea Spray, particularly the split-second point at which the sea suspends in animation, just before it falls to rejoin the ocean, after being flung up when blasted against rocks by the wind & tide.
I've been endlessly mesmerised by the sea doing this, particularly during south westerlies in Porthleven...

Beside our edge of the Celtic sea, it’s rarely cold enough for Snow to form icy snowflakes, so we get a ‘wet’ version which we call Cornish Snow – so here’s a proper Cornish Snowflake.
This watery snowflake is hand printed from 2 lino blocks which I've built & cut. I mixed turquoise with white & ultramarine to achieve two shades of delicious Sea Green. I've hand printed this twice, on my old adana press, to achieve the completed image, on artist paper.
I then typeset the info on the back, using old metal letterpress which I hand ink & hand print using the remaining ink, the 3rd impression - which I then fold to form a card.

:: Sealed into a compostable cornstarch clear-bag
:: Inside is blank for you to write your own personal message

It's very hard to convey, in a photograph, the truly beautiful physical quality of the ink & it's colour on this gorgeously soft-to-touch paper
Cards will vary slightly due to the nature of hand production making each card unique & original
