I’ve a lifelong obsession with Cosmological Geometry, which exists from within the microscopic to the way the planets, in our solar system, orbit Earth. If I’m asked about my views on this, my family groan in unison - I think I’ve mentioned it a tween-weeny bit too often. It’s a captivating topic that the ancients were aware of…Plato theorised about it…Cézanne considered it in his paintings…
Snowflakes are a fascinating example of a simultaneous mix of geometric simplicity & complexity - that is, they are all hexagonal but rarely the same ….& what we actually see, in their collective form, is irregular shaped snow…
If you cut plant life transversely, (fruit for example) you’ll reveal intrinsic geometric forms…I’ve sort of turned this idea on its head by forming mistletoe into a snowflake…
…or... it’s just a pretty christmas card design...

This Mistletoe Snowflake is formed from two Lino blocks which I’ve built & cut. I’ve mixed two shades of mistletoe green from slightly different amounts of blue-green & warm yellow inks. I hand inked the berries & smaller leaves in the darker shade & the larger sprigs using the lighter shade.
The completed image has been achieved by hand printing twice using my old Albion Press
I then typeset the info on the back, using old metal letterpress which I hand ink & hand print using up remainder ink, the 3rd impression - I fold by hand to form the card.
