Full description
This needle felted chaffinch is one of a series of british garden birds available in my shop. The chaffinch has been needle felted using 100% woollen fibres and a barbed felting needle that is used to sculpt the wool into shape whilst felting it. Merino wool in appropriate colours has been used to create the markings. The bird has wired feet and beaded eyes and the beak has had a light covering of wax.
The chaffinch is approximately life-size measuring approximately 15cm (6") long and 9cm (3.5") tall.
This bird could sit happily on the mantlepiece or perched in a pot plant. He is lightweight and so will happily perch almost anywhere. The feet can be gently bent around a branch and blutac or glue can be used to secure him in place. Alternatively he will stand unsupported on a flat surface.
