This pendant is one of a series I have cast in recycled fine silver from my own collection of antique glass buttons from the Victorian and Art Nouveau periods. I use fine silver clay for these projects, which enables me to cast at very low temperatures and produces fewer CO2 emissions. The button I have used is a particular favourite of mine as it features a swirling pattern of Ivy leaves, symbolic of everlasting devotion, all highlighted with fine texture and detail which makes the pendant glitter and come alive with sparkle. In order to enhance the detail I have antiqued the pendant. This would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves wildflowers, plants and gardening. I have created an asymmetrical teardrop shaped base in sterling silver sheet, inspired by the patterns within the button, using a piercing saw. Because these designs are drawn freehand onto the sheet, no two are alike. This pendant measures 30 mm 1 1/4" in length, includes a 450 mm fine sterling silver chain and is fully hallmarked by the London Assay Office, including my own maker's mark. The last photograph in the series shows the pendant photographed with a vintage lipstick case measuring 80 mm or 3".
This pendant is beautifully packaged in a gift box with a ribbon and bow, ready to give as a gift.
