Deep in the Perigord Vert in South West France lies a little Ville. It has a river twisting all around it and if you ever find yourself there be sure to look out for the Ville Mice. For under the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the Ville lies another world, the world of the Ville Mice.
Vianne lives in a small apartment over looking the river and is hopelessly in love with Miette, the mouse who sails his boat up and down every day, ferrying mice to and fro. But Miette is a vain mouse, to busy admiring the reflection of his mousey whiskers in the river to notice Vianne. One fine autumn morning, Vianne was watching her mousey crush from her balcony when suddenly there was a splash. Poor Miette had leaned too far over to fix his mousey hair in the glassy river mirror and was flailing about, squeaking for help. And at that moment, it was as if the spell had been broken and Vianne saw Miette for the silly, vain mouse he really was.
