I painted twelve garden birds for a calendar I made for family and friends last Christmas. The paintings are featured on these square cards (see other listings for the familiar garden visitors such as the long-tailed tit, robin, magpie, blackbird etc).

Full description

A high quality 300 gsm square card (148 mm x 148 mm) featuring a watercolour waxwing. The card is supplied with a white laid envelope.

One of a series of twelve watercolour bird paintings I made at the end of last year, this stars one of the winter visitors to the UK, the waxwing. They fly into the east coast (usually Scotland and East Anglia) around October/November time to strip the trees of berries, and leave in the spring.

I love their grey/brown colouring, impressive hairdo and the unexpected flash of colour on their wings.

The card gives their English name and Latin name alongside the painting. The painting was originally done on watercolour paper with a soft textured surface which shows on the finished cards.

On the back of the card, I picked out three of the colours used in the painting.

Your card will be carefully packed in a cello bag and posted to you in a sturdy board back mailer.
