This drop shaped pendant features a stripey piece of fordite bezel set in sterling silver, silver wire detailing has been added to one side of the setting and the top looped round to form an integral bail. The fordite has a stripey pattern finishing in a bulls eye in the middle and has lots of coloured layers separated by white, the colours include black, emerald green, gold, red, silver, blue and orange, some of the layers are metallic and sparkle as the light catches them. So whats fordite? Its layers of cured paint that built up in the old spray booths back when they used manual spraying rather than the modern electro spray process (which is much more efficient limiting the amount of fordite formed). I cut and polished this piece myself and the guy I purchased the rough from knew that it came from one of Ford's mid west plants in the 70's and we think due to the amount of white probably a truck production line but that means there were some very colourful trucks as well! Ideal gift for anyone who likes the unusual.
It comes with a 16 inch chain but the integral bail is large enough to take a leather thong or cotton cord if you wanted to swap it over (drop me a message if you are interested in these options and we can discuss colours). The pendant its self is a bit over 1 1/2 inches top to bottom including the bail and 3/4 inches across (42mm by 19mm). Comes gift boxed.
