Matilda the Mouse is a handmade, knitted glove puppet with plenty of mischievous expression! She loves cheese and getting up to no good. My toddler daughter loves to grab her tail and touch her face.

This mouse is knitted in a beige/grey Sirdar snowflake yarn and has a furry feel to it.

Knitted and sewn entirely by hand.
Embroidered nose and felt eyes sewn on securely for toddler safety.
Ribbed cuff around the bottom edge of the puppet.

Fits most hand sizes well, even my partner's large hands! A child of 6 or 7 plus could handle it well enough.

I loved hand puppets as a child, particularly animals. I preferred them to teddies, because I could bring them to life and get so much expression out of them! The birth of my daughter inspired me to try making some for her to grow up with and enjoy. I was already a capable knitter, so decided to go off-pattern and try to develop a knitted design of my own.

As a child I had a great fondness for glove puppets, especially my hedgehog friend Snuffles, who went with me everywhere! I was more into puppets than teddies, with the expression you can put into them and the interaction they offer.
When I had my daughter, I wanted to pass on this love to her. One of her first animal words was 'mouse' (because of a book we read!), so I knew I had to make her a mouse.
Matilda is a mischievous character who loves cheese...
