This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
I hope you enjoy my funky rainbow bird. A bit of fun and sure to brighten any window.
I've used all 7 colours of the rainbow, 2 shades of each to make this suncatcher with the yellow carefully posttioned so that it forms a beak. The other colours are used to form rainbow feathers. In the middle I've placed a shimmering dichroic glass nugget which I fused in my kiln to look like an eye.
This is 13cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
it is would make a wonderfully bright addition to any room.
It is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
I cannot guarantee to ever make another exactly the same as this, as my dichroic nuggets are one-offs (and therefore great fun to make). I can make this design in other colours, please ask.
The 5th photo shows the previous version now sold so you can see they are different though to the same pattern,
I sat in bed doodling the other night trying to come up with a design for a Whirlpool.
I discarded my first attempt as not what I wanted but left the drawing on my table
When I looked at it again I realised to my surprise that I had drawn a bird.
So I decided to make it and included one of my special dichroic nuggets to make the eye.
