Whirlwind Suncatcher Stained Glass Dichroic Eye of the Storm

Whirlwind Suncatcher Stained Glass Dichroic Eye of the Storm
Love this

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.

I drew a desgin for a whirlwind and penciilled a nugget in the middle.I realised that the nugget looked like an eye so that is what I made 'the eye of the storm'.
The eye is made specially in my mini microwave kiln, with a glorious dichroic shimmery topping and I've surrounded it with 12 different fronds of wind in purple, blue and white.

This is 15cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.

it is would make a wonderfully bright addition to any room.
It is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.

I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.

I cannot guarantee to ever make another exactly the same as this, as my dichroic nuggets are one-offs (and therefore great fun to make). I can make this design in other colours, please ask.

All photos are of this suncatcher as it's the first I've made of this design.

My fused glass dichroic nuggets, made in my kiln, are great fun to make but the dichroic glass I use is very expensive. I guard it like gold dust. I love opening the kiln when the fusing is complete as I never know quite what I will have made.

I stepped outside this morning to a clear lovely calm day after a horrid day of wind and rain yesterday. I excalimed "the eye of the storm" and rushed inside to design this then had to make the eye for it in my little hotpot microwave kiln.
