This pretty tiger's eye bracelet with its rich brown and honey colours, has been made by hand using the Japanese technique kumihimo.
Genuine faceted rounds of tiger's eye, that are 3mm in size, have been threaded onto strands of brown S-Lon cord. I have also added gold coloured seed beads to create dots running through the bracelet and to compliment the golden browns within the gemstones.
All of the strands have been brought together using the above technique.
The strands have been finished with gold plated ends and the bracelet fastens with a gold plated toggle clasp.
The width of the beaded braid is approximately 8mm (1/4") so is a slightly more delicate bracelet that is a snug, but not tight, fit for a 17.8cm (7") wrist.
Kumihimo is Japanese for 'gathered threads' and was first done as a form of finger-loop braiding that has since evolved into a form of braiding that can be done using only cords, or with beads added into each knot.
Tiger's eye is one of my favourite gemstones, I love the way the light seems to dance across it as you move it. I also love working with seed beads and wanted to create something using both of these things together.
