Item details

An exploration of a technique which uses a flat piece of timber, then by cutting out on a scroll saw with the base set at an angle and re-gluing the segments a bowl is made with matching grain and very little waste of timber. It is quite time consuming, but good fun and it allows some lovely little bowls to be made that are unique and rather dainty.

Full description

110mm x 45mm high. Weighs 58 grams. The cherry was a tree that I cut down for a Father in Law, then stored for a few years to season: when it became spalted ( A highly sought after colouration cased by microbes in the soil). In this case it has a lovely blue / green patina within the grain of the cherry. It is a unique and dainty little bowl. Finished with a melamine Laquer that Chestnut products say is safe for children's toys, complies with EN 71. Then a light coat of bees wax.
