The original painting was created from my own photograph of what I have now discovered to be called a 'spirarea' shrub found in my garden. I was captivated by the intricacy and smallness of it and how beautiful it was...I simply had to paint it! I have quite a passion for blue because of it's tranquillity, so I guess I wanted to emphasise how this precious piece of 'my garden' made me feel by using this limited and unusual colour palette.
