Creating a tender, loving scene between an anteater and his/her baby has been a challenge but so much fun!

I made the anteater using cotton that I painted with textile paint. He (I see him as a dad) has glass eyes and his looooong tongue is wired. Baby anteater is also made from painted cotton and he is very sleepy. He is struggling to keep his eyes open and is clutching his fluffy teddy in on hand and his daddy's tongue in the other.

They're sitting on a piece of heavy driftwood that measures 26cm and it measures 40cm from wall to nose.

This is a really lovely piece and, as with all my work it was created completely free hand. It's a unique, quirky piece of textile art and I hope it makes you smile.

I had a rough night with kids up and very little sleep and at 2.30am I had an idea of an anteater that pulled down his sunglasses with his tongue. The sunglasses idea didn't work out and I really wanted to add a baby anteater. At first he was going to sit on the tongue like on a swing but then it looked like he was getting eaten. I'm delighted with the end result as I think it's fun, unique and loving. I hope you like it too! x
