Full description

This brooch measures 40mm by 30mm. It is mounted on a 20mm brooch bar, soldered to the copper base and fastening with a rotating catch

To make it, I first built up several layers of clear enamel, firing each one. I fired a layer of black enamel over this; the copper base can be seen through this in golden-brown tones. I scattered white, blue and gold enamel on the black layer and then drew through the surface while it was red hot in the kiln to create the random swirled pattern.

Your brooch will be sent boxed, by Royal Mail first class large letter, signed for.

Designed by Francis Hayes in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire
