Lapis Lazuli was once one of the most sought after stones in the world because it's intense ultramarine blue colour was said to represent the heavens. Nowadays it is still rare to find natural un-dyed lapis lazuli like the beads I have used here, and rarer still to find them with golden flecks of iron pyrite, which naturally occur in the best seams.
