I love making traditional Dorset buttons and wanted to produce something respecting the heritage of the craft but given a contemporary edge and immensly wearable too.

This stunning neck piece features three different sized unique Dorset Cross Wheel buttons worked in shades of thread inspired by a sunny sandy beach. These are worked in an unrepeatable selection of colours in various weights and types of thread on chunly wooden rings and the neck piece is therefore unique.
The main colours ae gold and sandy yellow shades. The patterns of spokes and ridges worked is created by the artist as the mood takes and so will not be repeated.
The neck piece hangs from two lengths of matching 12 mm wide organza ribbon and so can be adjusted to suit the neckline of the garment it is worn with.
The neck piece measures 18 cm long and is 65 mm at its widest point.
Although the neck piece looks substantial and striking, it sits well and is surprisingly light to wear.
