Gorgeous Peruvian opal beads in shades of aqua, turquoise and green are offset by gold ear wires, making these earrings perfect for a summer wedding, or an ideal touch of something special for everyday wear to remind you of summer sunshine!
The beads are Peruvian opals, and they hang from hand formed gold filled ear wires. The drop is 1.5cm (just over half an inch) long.
What does ‘gold filled’ mean?
Gold filled jewellery lies somewhere between gold plated and solid gold. With gold filled wire and findings you still have a layer of gold over a base metal core, but because of the way the gold is bonded to the core you get a much thicker coating than you do with gold plating. This makes it much more durable so it shouldn’t flake or wear away with normal wear, unlike plated jewellery, and it is a much more affordable alternative to solid gold. It is also sometimes known as rolled gold.
