I love making traditional Dorset buttons and wanted to produce something respecting the heritage of the craft but given a contemporary edge and immensely wearable too.

This unique hand made brooch is developed from a traditional Dorset Cross Wheel button and worked in cotton thread.
The main colours are inspired by the fuchsia variety 'Voodoo' flower and are bright shades of purples, pinks and reds. The patterns of spokes and ridges worked are created as the mood takes and so will not be repeated.
The brooch is finished with a hand stitched stainless steel brooch fastening.
The button is worked on a chunky wooden ring of approximately 60mm diameter.
Although it looks substantial and striking, it is surprisingly light to wear and will not pull on the lapel of a summer jacket.
Matching necklace also available and colours show truest in the final pictures.
