A lovely, unusual necklace featuring Picture Jasper gemstone beads, with its natural combination tans, browns, greys and black tones.
The focal point of this necklace is a stunning, natural Fossil Coral Gemstone, with its gorgeous Coral Polyps. They look like chrysanthemums! The gemstone is crystalline and has some natural caves in the surface - please see photos.
I have made this necklace using traditional hand knotting techniques for strength and durability as well as fluidity of movement. The round stones I have chosen measure 6mm in diameter approx. The large fossil coral focal stone measures 53x40mm approx, excluding the bail. It is flat on both sides.
The bail and the clasp are hand made in my home workshop and have been created from sterling silver. The bail features a textured disc, created by heating the silver sheet and quenching and pickling several times to produce a layer of fine silver on the surface which forms organic textures. The clasp is a hook and eye design and is hall marked at the London Assay Office.
The necklace measures just over 21 inches or just over 53cm approx.
