Full description
This is inspired by some beautiful oak woodland we came across on a holiday to the Brecon Beacons last summer. The twisty tangly nature of oaks, alive with birdlife made it feel a very magical place to be. I have inevitably created a pattern based on this landscape, it's what I love to do.
I have printed three layers, the base layer being a monoprint using bubblewrap which gives me an even pattern in which I can vary colour. It adds the summer sunlight. The second layer is a linocut with a background designed to add a sense of depth, and the final layer of linocut gives me the foreground silhouetted as the sun shines through.
I can't wait to play with this idea and create different patterns in the background and different seasons by varying the colours.
It is printed on lokta and measures 28cm x 18cm. Each print will look slightly different and each print is signed.
