The srolled patttern on this dish gives it a middle eastern effect. The mottled blue and gold background adds to that.
The gold background is a thin layer of yellow enamel ove a base coat of clear enamel and in part the golden brown of the copper base shows through in certain lights. The blue of the background is yet another thin layer of enamel over the yellow coat. The blue generates a variety of colours across the surface of the dish; in places over the yellow it shows as green, where it is caught up in the scrolling it shows tints warying from pale blue through to near black. The scrolling in white and red shows in sharp contrast to the blue and gold. The whole effect, as with any of this work is dependent on the play of light as it varies from place to place and from time to time.
There is a description of the technique of scrolling at my shop page https://folksy.com/items/6767323-Large-dish-enamel-light-blue-scrolled-white.
The dish is approximately 85mm in diameter, 17mm deep.
The dish will undoubtedly provide a conversation piece in the house. Equally it can be put to a utilitarian use if wished; soap dish or receptacle for tea-bags removed from your mug have been suggested. Dressing table tray has also been mentioned.
UK delivery is by Royal Mail, first class, signed for. If you have a preference for some other delivery method please let me know.
