I really enjoy making Teapots, they are one of the more challenging things I make. Lots of separate elements need to work together to create a beautiful object which also need to be functional. Each teapot has it's own personality, I never make two the same, everyone is a unique work of art which you can also drink tea from!

I make this teapot by throwing the body, spout and lid separately on my wheel. The pieces are then dried until they are leather hard, all the elements are then carefully put together. The lid is put back on the wheel and fettled to fit the teapot opening perfectly and the twisted handle added. I finally pull a handle and add this to the body. The teapot is then left to dry out slowly for more than a week. Once bone dry it is fired in my kiln to 1060 degrees. I glaze the teapot with one of my favourite glazes; a beautiful duck egg which is semi transparent and lets the natural speckle of the stoneware show through. The teapot is then finally fired to 1250 degrees centigrade making it strong and durable.
My potter's mark is on the handle base.
Dimensions (approx):
Height including lid: 11.5cm
Length from tip of the spout to end of handle: 22cm
Teapot holds 1/2 litre/ 1 pint of liquid
All of my pottery is made using lead free glazes. It is dishwasher safe but I recommend handwashing.
Every tea pot will be especially made for you so may vary slightly from the pictures shown.
