Full description
These are one of a kind, handmade vitreous enamel earrings with a fine silver drop, an organic lava and a sterling silver bead. The item is designed in a way to show a strong colour and an organic-inorganic contrast making the earrings a modern, contemporary piece of jewellery.
In the creation of enamel jewellery glass particles are fused to prepared metal through multiple high temperature firings.
In this case black, ivory and turquoise opaque vitreous/glass enamels have been fused to a copper disc and decorated with fine silver wire. The base piece has been fired several times in a kiln at a temperature around 800-850 degrees to fuse the fine glass powder in different layers to the surface of the metal. The ivory enamel has been fused on top of the black enamel in a way to give an organic look to the design.
