I am inspired by all things weird and wonderful in nature and my ceramic forms often centre around themes of sea life. I create sculptural or illustrated forms that explore these interests but I prefer if my artworks have some function, as well as being beautiful and decorative. I am particularly obsessed with nautilus as they are such strange alien creatures that have lived for over 400 million years. Older than dinosaurs, these cephalopod molluscs are living fossils, it's only right that they get some recognition!

Full description
A unique and handmade Nautilus illustrated ceramic dish. This artwork was hand sculpted from porcelain, high fired for durability and decorated with a delicate hand illustrated ceramic decal. The intricately patterned nautilus was originally drawn in pen and ink, then digitally printed onto decal paper and hand applied to the dish. The gold detail on the nautilus compliments the real gold lustre edging of the dish.
The dish is food safe, it would be great for sushi or cheese(!), or could be purely ornamental. It is recommended not to wash in a dishwasher or use abrasives to clean. The size and shape of the piece may differ slightly as each dish is unique and made individually.

Artworks are hand crafted by myself, Pipistrelle, in Maze Studios in Bristol. I am a maker of patterned illustrations and ceramic entities to wear or to use or just to gaze at. Inspired by nature's most weird and wonderful.
