Original vintage (1963) Penguin first edition card, with free delivery within the UK. It is eco friendly and totally unique, there is not another in existence.
It is made from the cover of 'Improve Your Golf' by Bill Cox. Penguin, 1963. It is a Penguin Handbook (No 94), which are collectible - this one is a first edition. The cover design is by Bruce Robertson, a Penguin designer in the 1960s.
I absolutely never cut up books which could otherwise be read.
The book was dropping to bits, not surprising, what with it being fifty years old.
Onto the book cover I have sewn the words 'Love You', using letters from discarded leaflets and magazines.
The envelope is made from an original 1940 Ordnance Survey map of Anglesey. It is very old and delicate. I recommend that if you intend to post it, then you put it in another envelope to protect it.
Be aware that the book cover is 50 years old, and the envelope is 74 years old, therefore they show signs of wear and tear. I make no attempt to clean up the blemishes left by life. My cards come with a history, they deserve to be treasured by people you treasure.
The card measures 9cms x 11cms, when folded, and the envelope measures 11cms x 12.6cms.
All of my work is individually numbered, this is 340. You can find out more on my blog, alisonsye.com, where I record the making of my work in detail.
Please note, if you live outside the EU you are responsible for paying import duties or tax.
Thanks,
Alison
