Growing up in rural Hampshire I remember the excitement of seeing hares running across open fields. I was fascinated by the way that they would duck down low to the ground so they weren't visible, and the suddenly pop their heads back up to check the horizon.
I remember even as a very young girl realising that they were so different to rabbits when they moved. Such long, strong legs which enabled them to run so fast.
In my drawing I wanted to capture that moment when the hare is sitting in the field, looking quite intently into the distance, listening carefully. I felt it was important to convey the thickness of the coat and the density of the fur.

Limited edition print (a limited run of 500) by Vicki Hunt of an original fine line drawing in Japanese ink. 'Hare' is hand drawn using a fountain pen.
I absolutely love the feel of drawing with a fountain pen. The Japanese pen used to draw Hare has a very fine nib, making it perfect for creating the detailed work I so enjoy working on. The drawing is many days work.
This is a limited edition print, signed and numbered, printed onto archival paper using archival inks.
The print size is A4 and the mount size is 11inches by 14inches making it a standard size for framing.
Each print comes enclosed in clear cellophane, and a certificate of authenticity is included.
