Full description
This ornately carved bowl was thrown on the wheel with thick walls and left to dry for several days. Once leather hard, it was carved quickly and instinctively, using a custom made tool. This is a really lovely piece to hold and enjoy the tactile surface. The rock-like effect has been accentuated with a blue-green, copper green glaze which turns a dappled grey where thicker. Inside is a pinkish-white shino glaze which is perfectly food safe.
The piece measures approx. 2.75 inches in height and just over 3 inches across at its widest point. Mark Smalley's personal symbol is impressed to the base.
