Full description

One of the nicest pieces I have made this year, this cup was thrown off a cone of clay and when leatherhard, the surface was carved with a custom made tool. The glaze is similar to the Oribe glaze which is so popular in Japan, and it highlights the carved surface rather beautifully. Because of the hight wood ash content, it does tend to develop a pronounced crackle over time.

The piece was fired to around 1270 degrees C. Carries Mark Smalley's personal symbol on the base. Measures approx. 2.75 inches tall and the same at its widest point.

Postage and packing for this piece will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 .

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire
