An charming, stoneware tea caddy, thrown on the wheel as a closed form, the lid has been cut out by hand and the surface carved with a custom made tool.
It was fired to around 1260 degrees centigrade in a wood fired kiln, the ash and flames have created some very pleasant colours and patination on the surface. The inside is glazed with a matte white shino glaze which is perfectly food safe. The pale marks around the rim are where pieces of wadding were placed, to raise the lid and prevent it sticking during the firing.
Measures approx. 4.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, carried Mark Smalley's personal symbol to the underside.
Postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £3.50
Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire and yorkshire
