This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique. One of my very own designs and I think it is quite stunning and very special.

Using just the different colours and textures of glass, I've 'painted' a picture.

A picture of a little white cottage with a red door, 2 windows, a black roof and white smoke from the chimney. The cottage is set to the side of a landscape of green and purple fields and a bubbly blue lake. Above the fields the vivid yellow sun is setting giving out the bright amber and red rays of a sunset completing the 7 colours of the rainbow.

The picture is framed in clear glass with a pretty texture for good effect and then with a strengthening border of twisted wire.

As I've managed to incorporate both a sunset and a rainbow in this piece it was quite a decision what to call it. I did consider "Bright Cottage" as the cottage was my starting point.

Before starting this piece I fused the little cottage in my kiln and then copper foiled it into place.

This is beautifully bright and cheerful and casts lovely colours when it hangs in the light of a window.

It is 14cm square and hangs from a strong silvery chain which is securely attached at either side of the top.

My pieces are all unique. I use different shades and textures of glass to ensure that everything I make, even when to the same pattern, is different.

We've just visited Scotland and we travelled through some villages between Gretna and Glasgow where we were surprised by the dour drabness of the houses. We saw lots which were pebble dashed and then painted in dreary shades of mushroom and dull greys.
On returning home i was determined to brighten up those houses so designed this scene. A bright white cottage surrounded by light and vibrant colour.
