This is a white enamel pendant over which I have fired a transfer picture of two bassets' heads. The picture is printed in ink that uses enamel pigments.
The pendant is 18mm by 12mm, counter enamelled on the reverse. It is mounted on silver plate 45cm (18 inch) curb chain fastened with a simple bolt ring.
The pendant is sold boxed, as shown.
UK delivery is by Royal Mail, first class, signed for.
It's cheaper to have an artist paint one picture then print as many copies as you like than to have him paint the same picture dozens of times; plus you get a consistent output. The only upside for the artist is that he/she doesn't get bored. So in the eighteenth century both the enamel and the chine producers got into transfer printing techniques. Clearly the china industry had some kind of edge; otherwise instead of taking you cuppa from a china service you'd use an enamel mug today.
For me as a crafts-person the technique is an interesting sidelight on the history of enamelling and at my scale of production a stimulating technical challenge.
