Simple modern pots with a rustic twist. All my pots are wheel thrown by me and fired in my electric kiln. I enjoy using stoneware clays and make all my glazes from scratch, decorating my pots with simple colour combinations. Most of my pots are practical items to use everyday around the home and include jugs, bowls, vases and other homeware items. Find out more about my latest designs on my website: www.judeallman.com.
This lovely herb planter will suit any kitchen windowsill. It comes with its own shallow dish or drainer to make watering and caring for your herbs clean and easy to do. The planter and dish come as a matching set and would make a perfect gift for food lovers and anyone who enjoys bringing plants into their home.
Both the planter and dish have been hand thrown using ecru coloured clay with a beautiful natural speckle. I have glazed the planter using a neutral oatmeal glaze on the inside and out, leaving a few inches on the outside base unglazed to show the lovely texture of the bare clay. The dish is glazed in the same glaze on the inside only - again leaving the outside of the dish bare.
To make this matching herb set extra special I have also impressed the words ‘herbs’ into one side of the planter, highlighted in deep brown.
The planter measures about 9cm x 9cm (3.5 inches x 3.5 inches) and has a small hole in the base for drainage. The dish drainer measures about 11.5cm x 2.5cm (4.5 inches x 1 inch). Both are suitable for interior use (if you chose to put them outside they may not survive extreme cold or frost).
Please note that slight variations in glazing or placement of lettering are a nature of handmade ceramics and a part of their charm!
This is a listing for one herb planter with dish drainer as a matching set.
Inspiration for my work comes from the idea of finding beauty in the function of simple pots. Most of us use ceramics everyday, especially in the kitchen. Taking time to drink tea from your favourite mug, or eat soup from an honest bowl can be a simple, background pleasure in life.
I throw all my pots by hand on a pottery wheel, and enjoy throwing as many elements as possible: even lids and knobs. Most of my pottery is made using stoneware clay. Stoneware has a firm texture which I feel best reflects a rustic influence and the plain style of my pottery.
Most of all I hope people enjoy using my pots.
