Item details

Iridescent "peacock" pearls on 14 carat rolled gold ear wires. The earrings hang approximately 3cm below the piercing.

The pearls are predominantly purple in lustre, with green and bronze overtones. There is a matching bracelet (see the separate listing.)

Your jewellery will arrive, posted first class, in a pretty organza bag. If you would like it gift-wrapped, and with a special message, please add a note to your order and I will be happy to do this at no extra charge .

I have always preferred to use natural coloured pearls in my jewellery, rather than dyed ones - but my one exception is these beautiful "peacock" pearls, which are freshwater pearls, dyed to emulate the original peaock or "black" pearls from the seas around Tahiti.

I also use, whenever possible, "gold-filled" components (as you see here) rather than "gold-plated" ones as they are of higher quality, and much longer-lasting. "Gold-filled" (otherwise known as "rolled gold") consists of a layer of 14k gold bonded or "rolled" on to the core metal. The quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total component, and because the finished product has a surface layer of gold much thicker compared to gold plate, it will not rub off eventually in the same way, and should last a lifetime.
