Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
A crisp and pretty design, hand-painted, embroidered and entirely hand-stitched, decorates the front of this lovely pincushion. A matching needle case will be listed separately.
Flowers and their centers were painted onto white cotton fabric, upcycled from a shirt front, using hand-made stamps and fabric paint. The painted design was then enhanced with hand embroidery in cotton threads. The back of the pincushion is a red and cream, batik style, printed cotton. The back panel of the pincushion has been deliberately cut 'over-sized' in order to fold it to the front and use it to frame the painted and embroidered front panel.
The pincushion is filled with polyester wadding.

A small painted panel, inspired by a piece of vintage 1950's table linen, was the starting point for this design.
