Full description
A pretty and neat buttoned purse for cards or coins, embroidered in white cotton on a green patchwork background.
Scraps of colour coordinated fabric, some recycled - others off-cuts from other craft projects, many of them vintage prints, have been 'felted' to a background of 'eco' felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles) using an embellisher machine. This patchwork panel forms the flap of the purse. Two pretty lace flowers have been stitched in the centre of the patchwork panel with embroidered leaves added. Cross stitches, also in white cotton thread, have been worked over the exposed edges of the patchworked scraps for extra durability.
The body of the purse has been cut from a green, paisley design fabric from my 'upcycled' stash. The lining of the purse is a green and white striped fabric, with flower sprigs, and is backed with iron-on interfacing for some structure. The purse outer is hand stitched, in blanket stitch, using white crochet cotton. The purse closes with a button-hole-stitch loop in white crochet cotton, over a vintage green button.
